An electromagnetic pulse attack — the ‘other’ Iranian nuclear threat

Some experts say Tehran may be preparing for an EMP strike — which could ‘fry’ electrical grids, with devastating consequences

By David Shamah October 14, 2012

Just what might happen if the Iranians got their hands on a nuclear weapon? Would they fire it at an Israeli city, causing tens or hundreds of thousands of casualties? Or would they use it as a geopolitical weapon, seeking to dominate the Middle East and forcing the hand of Western powers, either subtly or by overtly threatening death and destruction to those who fail to heed their dictates?

While political scientists and world leaders have debated the likelihood of those two possibilities, there is a third plausible scenario: The use of a nuclear weapon by Iran to carry out an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack against Israel, the US, or Europe. Such an attack could cause severe damage to the electrical grid in the targeted nations, to the extent that the routines of daily life — centered around the use of electrical power — could be halted, for a short or even long period of time.

An EMP is an above-atmosphere level detonation of a nuclear device that produces enough radiation to wreak havoc with electrical systems. The blast produces a very brief but intense electromagnetic field that can quickly induce very high currents in electrical devices, shorting them out. The stronger the electromagnetic field — the “pulse” — the stronger the current, and the more likely electrical devices are to “blow out.” It’s akin to a power surge that shorts out your refrigerator or TV when too much voltage surges through the electrical outlet… on a whole other scale.

While there is much speculation as to what exactly an EMP would do to electrical appliances and digital devices — scientists have differences of opinion over how badly they would be affected (the world hasn’t really experienced a direct EMP blast yet, so much of the speculation is based on educated guesses) — the far-greater concern is what an attack would do to the electrical infrastructure in a targeted area. If an EMP strike is large enough, or there are enough such strikes, the blasts could knock out power plants, electrical substations, and other sensitive equipment, causing a massive power failure that may take weeks or months to overcome. Data centers housing servers would likely be badly damaged as well, as would be communications systems.

The EMP issue is hardly being discussed in Israel, said Dr. Emily Landau, director of the Arms Control and Regional Security Program at Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies and a lecturer at Tel Aviv University. “There isn’t much discussion of it right now, but when the discussion does begin, there is no doubt that it will focus on the balance between how much it will cost to deal with, versus how likely such an attack may be,” she said.

Landau, an expert on Iran’s nuclear program, believes that Iran could very well be planning an EMP attack on Israel, based on statements the Iranian regime has made, and actions it has taken. And, she said, Iran would be capable of delivering an EMP attack if it acquired a nuclear weapon.

“Some are skeptical that Iran would use a nuclear bomb just for an EMP attack,” said Landau. “If they already have a nuclear weapon, why not use it for the main purpose for which it was designed? But while a nuclear bomb targeting an Israeli city would cause mass destruction on a local or regional basis, an EMP attack could cause even more lasting damage, destroying Israel’s electrical grid.”

If Iran did opt for an EMP attack, the damage to Israel would be very high, she said. “Iran doesn’t have a nuclear bomb yet, and hopefully they won’t have one, but if they do manage to build a bomb, an EMP attack is a real possibility,” Landau added. “Many people in the US are concerned about EMP now, and although the public discussion hasn’t begun in Israel yet, I expect that it will in the near future.”

The US Congress in 2000 established the Congressional Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack. In 2004, the committee produced a 70-page executive summary on the EMP threat, and it issued a final report on the matter in 2008. According to the report, “several potential adversaries have or can acquire the capability to attack the United States with a high-altitude nuclear weapon-generated electromagnetic pulse (EMP). A determined adversary can achieve an EMP attack capability without having a high level of sophistication.”

The impact would be devastating, the report said. “EMP is one of a small number of threats that can hold our society at risk of catastrophic consequences. EMP will cover the wide geographic region within line of sight to the nuclear weapon. It has the capability to produce significant damage to critical infrastructures and thus to the very fabric of US society, as well as to the ability of the United States and Western nations to project influence and military power,” it said.

Dr. Peter Vincent Pry was lead staffer for the Congressional committee, and he, too, is worried that Iran could use a nuclear bomb to carry out an EMP attack — on Israel and/or the US.

“Iran openly talks about using an EMP to attack Israel or the US,” said Pry, who is currently executive director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security, a privately funded US group that seeks to educate the public and government leaders about the EMP threat to the US. According to Pry, Iran is actively preparing for an EMP attack. “Tehran has undertaken offshore exercises using Scud missiles fired and positioned in such a way that they exploded in the atmosphere — exactly the method you would use for an EMP attack,” he said.

Iran’s arsenal of atomic bombs would be no match for the US, which could obliterate any memory of Islamist Iran in a matter of minutes. But, Pry told The Times of Israel, he believes that Iran could get the most leverage out of a nuclear bomb by using it to trash large parts of the electrical grid in the US, making it easy for the Islamist regime to swoop in and act as it wishes on the world stage. “They could even marshal a major Islamic invasion of Israel, massacring the Jews and ushering in the era of the 12th Imam, the Islamic messiah, whose arrival Iran’s leadership believe is imminent,” Pry suggested grimly.

While EMP is a serious threat, there are steps governments can take to protect their electrical systems, according to Avi Schnurr, chairman and CEO of the Electric Infrastructure Security (EIS) Council, which works with government agencies and power companies worldwide to help coordinate international efforts on electric infrastructure protection.

“In the US, the estimate is that it would cost on the order of $1 billion to make the changes that would protect the power grid against EMP,” he told The Times of Israel. “I don’t have an estimate for Israel, but given the enormous difference in the sizes of the two countries and their power grids, it should be extremely affordable — no more than a fraction of a percent of Israel’s annual electric bill.”

“Hardening” electrical infrastructure against EMP attack would entail making some gradual changes to the power grid, such as the installation of devices like GIC (geomagnetically induced current) blockers.

Even if Iran were not developing a nuclear weapon, protecting the power grid in this manner would be a good idea, said Pry. “You don’t need a nuclear weapon to set off an EMP. You can also easily get a non-nuclear pulse generator,” he said. “They’re perfectly legal. A terrorist could detonate one next to an electrical station and effectively black out a city or region. Such weapons don’t do as much damage as a nuclear pulse does, but they are effective enough.”

In fact, when it comes to EMP, nature itself can be an enemy. “An EMP can be caused by an event like a severe solar storm,” said Pry. Such events have occurred on at least two previous occasions – including in 1859, when the largest recorded geomagnetic storm ever was recorded. British astronomer Richard Carrington observed the storm’s largest flare, which caused a major coronal mass ejection (CME) to travel directly toward the Earth — leading telegraph systems all over Europe and North America to fail, in some cases shocking telegraph operators before blowing out because of the overload of electricity in the wires. (The phenomenon is named the Carrington effect, after the astronomer.)

It takes political will to do what is necessary to protect the grid, said Schnurr, and that will is beginning to show itself in Western countries, including in Israel, which, Schnurr claims, is more aware, and more active in the hardening of its grid, than most countries. “Work is going on associated with protecting the grid,” continued Schnurr. There is a greater degree and breadth of awareness on this issue, which is part of the reason why efforts have been made.”

Cost need not be a barrier, Schnurr stressed. Relatively speaking, “the cost associated with hardening the grid is quite small,” he said. Getting it done, he said, is of the utmost priority, and that will be the great challenge of governments — from Israel to the US, and many others — in the coming period.

Report: US Was Warned about Libya Attack

Saturday, September 15, 2012

As anti-America violence continues across the Middle East, many are wondering what warnings the United States may’ve had before the attack in Libya that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others dead.

The British newspaper The Independent claims the U.S. State Department had credible information of the attack at least 48 hours before it took place. But even with that warning, there was no instruction for diplomats to be on alert.

“As we did with all of our missions overseas, in advance of the Sept. 11 anniversary and as we do every year, we did evaluate the threat stream and determined that the security was appropriate for what we knew,” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

Many are also pointing out that just one day before the attack, an al Qaeda leader Ayman al- Zawahiri called for Libyans to rise up against Americans over the recent killing of a high-ranking al Qaeda official.

“So one day before the storming of the embassy in Libya, Zawahiri releases a tape calling for vengeance, calling for jihadists to rise up. That’s exactly what happened,” CBN News Terrorism Analyst Erick Stakelbeck said.

The State Department stressed there was no advance warning or intelligence to suggest a threat in Libya that would warrant boosting security.

House Intelligence Committee member Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said the focus now “has to be on finding out who is responsible and bringing them to justice.”

Arabic Sources Reveal Shocking Information about the attacks on U.S. Embassy in Egypt

By admin on September 12, 2012

Walid Shoebat

The storming of the U.S. embassy in Cairo on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is not coincidental, despite the claims made by those behind it – as well as the liberal western media – that it was in response to an anti-Muslim film released in the U.S. Arabic sources, once translated, again tell the real story.

On September 10th, advertisements that encouraged people to join in the protests of the film were in abundance.

The idea came from the Nour Salafist party’s Ahmed Khalil and Nadder Bakkar. Here is a rough translation:

Nour Party announced in a statement on the official Facebook page of the party, support for participation in the vigil held in front of the U.S. embassy on the fifth evening (Tuesday) to condemn the film for offending the Prophet (peace be upon him) on American television. The Engineer Jalal, once Secretary-General of the party, said that a number of party leaders are taking part in the vigil, led by Dr. Ahmed Khalil and Nader Bakkar, in addition to members of the party from the various provinces.”

This was sent out one day before the 9/11 anniversary. So we can conclude that the agitation was started days before, then advertised on September 10 to turn out on September 11th specifically.

Yet, all this had nothing to do with the sarcastic film about Muhammad.

I find no reason as to why 9/11 was chosen as a date to attack two U.S. Embassies (Egypt and Libya). This is not a Box Office movie. I haven’t examined the source of the movie but I saw some parts of it.

The Arabic sources show that this was in support of al-Qaeda day, posting al-Qaeda flags and some of the chanting was about reminding Americans that there are many al-Qaeda’s (i.e. Nour Party). Americans should ask themselves a hard question:

If our enemy is al-Qaeda exclusively, then why is an entire political party – which makes up over 20% of Egypt’s new Parliament – aligning with al-Qaeda?

Attacks on U.S. Embassies had very little to do with the latest film and much more to do with the old story of the Muhammad Cartoon and the failure of Muslims to prosecute internationally the culprits who drew the Muhammad cartoons. This will be another attempt to change the laws globally.

The evidence comes from straight the horse’s mouth (time for a short talking horse video):

Ok, quit horsing around; we need to talk about something important.

Wisam Abdul Waris of Dar Al-Hekma (House of Wisdom) – about whom the Nour Salafist party announced publicly that its call to demonstrate was in support of – began a call to push for the passage of laws to be placed in the Egyptian Constitution – as well as internationally – that would make it illegal to criticize Islam.
Here is the call (the man to the left of the main speaker is NOT Adam Sandler):

Wisam’s words translated are:

We have moved to review with Mr. Rifai all the legal procedures today by which we created The Voice of Wisdom Coalition (I’itilaf Sawt al-Hekma); it will hold accountable everyone who insults Islam locally and internationally, in accordance with every country’s laws. We all know the problems Yasser Al-Habib had in London and after that in Berlin… in Germany; an extremist group was allowed to publicize cartoons that insult the prophet in front of the Salafist Mosque in Berlin, through a legal decision. So what we did was to ask Sharabi Mahmoud to reject this legal decision on behalf of the Egyptian people who are Muslim; for this reason, we created this coalition. We also made an official request from the Church in Egypt to issue a public announcement, to state it has nothing to do with this deed.

Then you have the official statements from the Nour Salafist party, which announces an official partnering with this call.

It had no reference to the current movie, which means that they simply searched for anything to use as an excuse. They could find nothing major except a satirical video.

Of course, you have daily satires in the United States about Muhammad that technically should be considered far worse.

This demonstration was about one thing – creating havoc to apply pressure that would lead to a change in Egyptian Constitution by Nour:

Salafi Nour Party officially joined the Commonwealth of ‘voice of wisdom’ with Wisam Abdul Waris, as well as with Nader Bakkar, the party’s official spokesman and Dr. Ahmed Khalil Khairallah, member of the supreme body.

Said Bakkar:

Ahmed Khalil of the supreme body and I joined the Association of the voice of wisdom with Dr. Wisam Abdul Waris as official representatives from Nour Party and the Salafist call.

Bakkar then added that the association…

…aims for legal prosecution for anyone of harm to Islam at home and abroad.

Bakkar said the following in remarks on his personal Facebook page:

…after the movie that abused the Prophet (peace be upon him), none will dare object to our determination to put an article in the constitution that criminalizes insults of the divine through portrayal or animation of the prophet, His companions, and all His House and mothers of the believers… this is the least we can do.”

In other words, the persistence of Muslims in the past to pass legislation, both internationally and locally, is the reason why they orchestrated this demonstration in which an American was killed in Libya.

How the Libyan Muslims were also able to wreak havoc through community organizing-style agitation is the next part of my investigation.
With video of Egyptians removing the American flag while carrying the black al-Qaeda flags reminding Americans “we are all al-Qaeda” and on 9/11 inside the Embassy compound is a clear message to remind Americans that 9/11 is not over.

To boot, they think they can get Americans to believe that doing so had nothing to do with 9/11 and everything to do with this video:

Americans, can you feel that finger poking you in the chest yet?

In light of the stated reason – in Arabic – for the storming of the U.S. Embassy, it’s worth revisiting this exchange between Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) – one of the five congressmen who expressed concern about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of the U.S. Government and Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General (AAG) for the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. Notice that Perez would not answer Franks’ question about whether Perez would unequivocally state that there would be no attempt by the Obama administration to criminalize speech against any religion.

From July of this year…

The Silence of the Pulpits

If you are even slightly awake about the world news today, it is no surprise that Christians are being killed, raped and brutalized throughout the Islamic world. However, there is a place where you can go and escape the dreadful and relentless details of Christian annihilation by Islam. You can just go to church. For example, this week in Nigeria Christians were killed. Nothing out of the ordinary, indeed in the world of Christian persecution, this is routine.

And so the response to the murder of Christians is found in nearly every church is …wait for it…, complete silence—not a mention or reference to it or the brutality against Christians that happens almost every day in the Islamic world. This is not a passive silence, because if you try to change it, you will fail. The silence is an active, working conspiracy that goes throughout nearly all of Christendom.

Take a simple example: prayer for the persecuted. From a Christian perspective, this falls under the heading of obvious. Try taking the idea of prayer for the routinely murdered Christians in Nigeria or Egypt to ministers, boards and any part of the structure of the church and see how far you will get. You will get rejection with a myriad of lame and evasive excuses, since they fear to recognize the suffering of Christians around the world. If you acknowledge the suffering, you might ask the question: why are these Christians suffering? Ah, there is the rub. The suffering is caused by Muslim jihadists who are following the Islamic doctrine of jihad against the Christian as found in Koran, Sira and Hadith. Islam is the cause of suffering of Christians, as well as Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and atheists.

STOP!!! We cannot say those things! Facts are the new hate speech, so we cannot speak about the jihad against Christians. Therefore, we get no prayers for the persecuted, because it would lead to talk about why the murder of Christians keeps happening. And that truth would lead to being called an Islamophobe, so we are not going there. Result: silence.

It is ironic that the Wall Street Journal, a FINANCIAL newspaper, has run an article about the silence in the pulpit concerning the suffering of Christians. We live in a time of moral inversion when Christian leaders are chastised for their moral bankruptcy by money men. It is supposed to be the other way around.

Actually, there are few religious leaders left in America. Instead we have chief-executive-officers who manage a 501(c)(3) institution that has meetings on Sunday. In too many cases, Christianity has devolved into an hour’s meeting that is supposed to make you feel good for a week.

This 501(c)(3) corporate mentality is another one of the roots of the denial of the Christian suffering. If you are willing to see the doctrinal roots of the ongoing murder of Christians by Muslims, then you might have to speak about it from the pulpit and that could be seen as political speech. In spite of the fact that there has never been a 501(c)(3) revoked because of political speech by a minister, the imagined loss silences ministers. Hmmm, if a minister is worried about the IRS revoking his 501(c)(3) then who is the minster serving? Caesar or Christ?

Now you may not be a Christian, and so it might seem that there is nothing here for you. But in reality we all have pulpits. Are we using the suffering of Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, women, gays, and intellectuals caused by Islam as a topic of conversation with those around us? Who is comfortable with bringing up anything negative about Islam? To tell those facts about Islam is a social crime and you will be accused of being a hater/Islamophobe. So most of us remain silent about the evils of political Islam, and we are just like the ministers—silent in our own pulpits. Christians and non-Christians share the fear of being insulted as bigots and Islamophobes.

It turns out that all of those who oppose any social evil will be hated. Think about it. It takes a massive amount of power to put into place any societal doctrine, such as multi-culturalism and political correctness. The government, universities, many churches, synagogues and the media have become enforcers of multi-culturalism and political correctness. They are very powerful and believe that their dogma rules all peoples.

They are also full throated apologists for Islam. Now it turns out that their actual knowledge about the doctrine and history of political Islam is close to zero and Muslim-brotherhood-approved, but that is no problem. The Establishment just says that those who find fault with Islam are bigots and they hate us.

The silence of the pulpits is the greatest aider and abettor of Islam in the US. No one serves and advances Islam better than the silent ministers. They have abandoned their duty of courage in the face of persecution, but the rest of the flock still looks for moral leadership from them. Islam triumphs when Christian leaders do not condemn the murderous evil of political Islam.

Even worse than the silent ministers are those who go to “interfaith dialogs” and smile while the Muslims assert religious and political dominance over them. The nice, oh so nice, Christians and Jews show up to tie, while the Muslims are there to win, and they do.

Christians need to follow the example of Jesus and willingly suffer the condemnation by the Establishment and fight against the political Islam that murders Christians. Said another way, Christians should demonstrate courage and sacrifice to support their cruelly murdered brothers and sisters.

We cannot defeat political Islam until we get Christian boots on the ground. Do the math. The pulpits must become a source of courage and knowledge and stand up for Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and all others who suffer under Islam’s persecution today and for the last 1400 years.

It isn’t just about religion; it is about the survival of our civilization.

[Editor’s Note: Once again, this does not express the views of the local chapters nor the National Office, but in the Christian realm, it applies to my views. Me being a reverend, I know what Yahweh has called ALL ministers too, not only is it preaching the Gospel, but also teaching about the sins of the world to look out for the temptation from falling into the sins. The vast majority of ministers do nothing to teach about the anti-Christ’s religion, nor warn about it, but a number of them fall under the spiritual oppression of following the evil one’s spirits by being willfully blind and ignorant, and not following what God Almighty, Yahweh, has told them to do…thus, the ministers WILL BE JUDGED; however, like my friend Bill said in essence, satan will use, and is continuing to use Islam to make Christians fall, even the ministers, because only a few will plant their feet in the ground, and push against the enemy…like what I constantly heard when I was in boot camp…most ministers “need to step up like they have a pair!”, and buck up and prepare to fight for rights and freedom and most importantly, God's glory; not be whipped by not wanting to even try to do anything. Take into consideration, any country that stays out a of a world war, they usually become a serious lose for the peace process right, well, we are in a spiritual battle right now, and satan isn't going to take any prisoners so to speak, if he can destroy Christians, especially ministers, then he will...after all, according to Revelation, Christians will be persecuted in the last days, and you can’t get much closer to the end now…ministers need to trust Hashem Elohim, God Almighty, the true God, and not be afraid of satan.]

Offended Muslim chokes atheist, and then …

You won’t believe craziness caused by ‘Zombie Muhammad’

by Chelsea SchillingEmail | Archive

A Muslim judge in Pennsylvania – who scolded a local atheist for offending Islam, called him a doofus and accused him of “using the First Amendment” to madden Muslims – dismissed harassment charges against the Muslim defendant who purportedly choked the atheist during a Halloween parade.

District Judge Mark Martin brought a Quran to court and told the alleged victim, American Atheists’ Pennsylvania State Director Ernest Perce V, “I think you misinterpreted a couple of things. So before you start mocking somebody else’s religion, you might want to find out a little more about it. It kind of makes you look like a doofus.”

The judge added, “I think our forefathers intended to use the First Amendment so we can speak with our mind, not to p— off other people and cultures – which is what you did.”

Perce had worn a “zombie Muhammad” costume and proclaimed that he was the Prophet Muhammad risen from the dead at the Oct, 11, 2011, event in Mechanicsburg, Pa. A “zombie pope” was also featured in the parade that night.

Now the Scranton Atheism Examiner reports that Perce could be arrested for posting audio of the judge scolding him for mocking Muhammad. According to report, the Muslim judge has threatened to hold him in contempt of court for releasing the recording. Perce has claimed he was given permission to post the audio.

The Examiner reports that Perce said he posted the audio because the judge treated him unfairly and showed preferential treatment for the Muslim defendant.

According to reports, the atheists were marching when Talaag Elbayomy, a Muslim, stormed out of the crowd and assaulted Perce, grabbing a sign around his neck and pulling until the strings choked him.

The men caught the attention of a nearby police officer.

Mechanicsburg Police Officer Bryan Curtis told Pennsylvania’s WHTM-TV, “Mr. Perce has the right to do what he did that evening, and the defendant in this case was wrong in what he did in confronting him.”

He added, “I believe that I brought a case that showed proof beyond a reasonable doubt, and the case was dismissed, and I was disappointed.”

Elbayomy – who said he believed it was illegal to mock Muhammad – was charged with harassment. He denied touching Perce at trial, but Officer Curtis said Elbayomy admitted grabbing Perce’s sign and beard the night of the incident.

The following is a dark and distorted video posted of the alleged attack:

However, Judge Martin dismissed the charges and purportedly belittled the atheist victim.

The audio of the judge lecturing Curtis for insulting Muhammad (starts at 28:30) is available here:

The following is an excerpt of the Muslim judge’s lecture in which he scolded Perce for offending Islam:

Well, having had the benefit of having spent over two-and-a-half years in predominantly Muslim countries, I think I know a little bit about the faith of Islam. In fact, I have a copy of the Qur’an here, and I would challenge you, Sir, to show me where it says in the Qur’an that Muhammad arose and walked among the dead. I think you misinterpreted a couple of things. So before you start mocking somebody else’s religion, you might want to find out a little more about it. It kind of makes you look like a doofus. …

In many other Muslim-speaking countries, err, excuse me, many Arabic-speaking countries, predominantly Muslim, something like this is definitely against the law there, in their society. In fact, it could be punished by death, and frequently is, in their society.

Here in our society, we have a Constitution that gives us many rights, specifically First Amendment rights. It’s unfortunate that some people use the First Amendment to deliberately provoke others. I don’t think that’s what our forefathers intended. I think our forefathers intended to use the First Amendment so we can speak with our mind, not to p— off other people and cultures – which is what you did.

I don’t think you’re aware, Sir, there’s a big difference between how Americans practice Christianity – I understand you’re an atheist – but see Islam is not just a religion. It’s their culture, their culture, their very essence, their very being. They pray five times a day toward Mecca. To be a good Muslim before you die, you have to make a pilgrimage to Mecca, unless you’re otherwise told you cannot because you’re too ill, too elderly, whatever, but you must make the attempt. Their greeting is ‘Salam alaikum, wa-laikum as-Salam,’ uh, ‘May God be with you.’

Whenever it is very common, their language, when they’re speaking to each other, it’s very common for them to say, uh, Allah willing, this will happen. It’s, they’re so immersed in it. And what you’ve done is, you’ve completely trashed their essence, their being. They find it very, very, very offensive. I’m a Muslim. I find it offensive. I find what’s on the other side of this [sign] very offensive. (Editor’s note: Reverse of sign said, “Only Muhammad can rape America!) But you have that right, but you are way outside your bounds of First Amendment rights. …

I’ve spent about seven years living in other countries. When we go to other countries, it’s not uncommon for people to refer to us as ‘ugly Americans.’ This is why we hear it referred to as ‘ugly Americans,’ because we’re so concerned about our own rights, we don’t care about other people’s rights. As long as we get our say, but we don’t care about the other people’s say.

The judge later added, “Because there was not, it is not proven to me beyond a reasonable doubt that this defendant is guilty of harassment, therefore, I am going to dismiss the charge.”

Carl Silverman of the Parading Atheists of Central Pennsylvania told WHTM-TV, “We understand that Muslims are extremely sensitive. But this is America, and you need to get over the sensitivity and take out your opposition in peaceful ways – not by attacking people physically.

Muslims Murder 2 Children of Christian Convert To Punish Him For His “Disloyalty to Islam”

Obama says, “Respect it!” Geller says, “2012!” Muhammad says, “If anyone changes his religion, kill him!”

NEWS ALERT: Nigeria Militants Kill Children Of Christian Convert, Missionaries Say BosNewsLife November 23 (hat tip Jack)

Boko Haram wants to put Nigeria under Sharia, or Islamic, law

ABUJA, NIGERIA (BosNewsLife)– A militant group seeking to enforce Sharia, or Islamic law, throughout Nigeria, has shot and killed two children of an ex-terrorist and “murderer” because he converted to Christianity, well-informed missionaries told BosNewsLife Wednesday, November 23.

Boko Haram, meaning “Western education is a sin”, carried out the killings this month after discovering that a former fellow fighter refused to kill a Christian and instead accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, explained Rae Burnett, Africa Director of the U.S. based Christian Aid Mission (CAM) group.

Burnett told BosNewsLife that the father and Boko Haram militant “was poised to slit the throat of his Christian victim” during November attacks in northern Nigeria that killed at least over 130 Christians, including missionaries, when “he was suddenly struck with the weight of the evil he was about to commit.”

Dropping his machete, the man ran to the nearest church, asking a pastor for help, Burnett said.

The pastor referred him to a CAM-supported indigenous ministry, where “native missionaries are reaching remote villages with the message of Christ,” she added.

“When the call came, the ministry leader was grieving the loss of several close missionary friends who were murdered in the Yobe State slaughter. He immediately met with the confessed killer and joyfully led him to Christ. He is discipling him in a secret location because of the extreme danger.”

Burnett declined to identify the former Muslim militant and missionaries, citing security concerns.

“After meeting the Lord, the converted terrorist [and] murderer called his former colleagues to testify what had happened to him without disclosing where he was,” she said.

However, “Upon discovering the man’s conversion to Christianity, Boko Haram members invaded his home, kidnapped his two children and informed him that they were going to execute them in retribution for his disloyalty to Islam. Clutching his phone, the man heard the sound of the guns that murdered his children,” the CAM official added.

There was no known published comment about the specific attack by Boko Haram, but the reported murders were part of what President leader Goodluck Jonathan called “heinous violence” which began November 4 mainly in and around Damaturu, the capital of Nigeria’s northern Yobe state.

Christian missionaries said that during the attacks Muslim “extremists” of Boko Haram also demanded that Christians recite the Islamic creed. Those who refused were reportedly butchered on the spot.

Additionally, “among the “devastation and destruction left in the wake of Boko Haram’s violence were 10 church buildings set aflame while Christians remained trapped inside,”  added Burnett, who has close knowledge about the situation.

Though “severely traumatized,” the former Boko Haram fighter who lost his children “is growing in the knowledge of Christ through the loving care he is receiving from his brothers and sisters in the ministry that is sheltering and training him,” she said. “He knows he is called to become a missionary to Nigerian Muslims.”

It was not immediately clear whether he would hand himself over to authorities for possible wrongdoing in the past, but Burnett made clear his conversion came as a boost for an “indigenous missionary ministry” which “has been working tirelessly to take the Gospel to Nigeria’s unreached Islamic northern states.”

Areas where CAM missionaries work are dominated by Muslim Hausa and Fulani tribes, many of whom are reportedly illiterate and remotely located.

“Millions have never even heard that Jesus died [and rose up from the death] for them,” Burnett said.

She claimed that despite “the extreme difficulties involved in reaching Muslims with the Gospel” several former Muslims “have made a commitment to follow Christ.”

Burnett said several ex-Muslims facing “the danger of persecution or death from the Islamic community and even family members,” are brought to “a safe location while they are discipled and trained in the Word of God.”

The government of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, has come under international pressure to improve protection of minority Christians in northern areas.

Nigeria’s over 160 million people are divided almost in half between Muslims living mainly in the north and Christians in the south, according to several estimates. President Jonathan has pledged to send extra troops to areas of sectarian friction, but Burnett said he faces an uphill battle.

The Boko Haram’s “goal is to force Sharia law throughout Nigeria” targeting “secular education by bombing schools and universities, ” the CAM director said. She added that while attacks are often prompted by local issues, they also aim at “anything that is perceived to be foreign influence.”…

Top Muslim Declares All Christians ‘Infidels’

To what extent was Egypt’s Maspero massacre, wherein the military literally mowed down Christian Copts protesting the ongoing destruction of their churches, a product of anti-Christian sentiment?
A video of Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Ali Gomaa (or Gom’a), which began circulating weeks before the massacre, helps elucidate. While holding that Muslims may coexist with Christians (who, as dhimmis, have rights), Gomaa categorized Christians as kuffar — “infidels” — a word that connotes “enemies,” “evil-doers,” and every bad thing to Muslim ears.
After quoting Quran 5:17, “Infidels are those who declare God is the Christ, [Jesus] son of Mary,” he expounded by saying any association between a human and God (in Arabic, shirk) is the greatest sin: “Whoever thinks the Christ is God, or the Son of God, not symbolically — for we are all sons of God — but attributively, has rejected the faith which God requires for salvation,” thereby becoming an infidel.
Gomaa then offered a hypothetical dialogue between Christians and Muslims to illustrate Islam’s proper position:
Christians: You have the wrong idea about us; we don’t worship the Christ.
Muslims: Okay, fine; we were under the wrong impression — but, by the way: “Infidels are those who declare God is the Christ, son of Mary.”
Christians: But these are philosophical matters that we are unable to explain.
Muslims: Okay, fine; God is one—but, by the way: “Infidels are those who declare God is the Christ, son of Mary.”
As a graduate of and long-time professor at Al Azhar university and Grand Mufti of Egypt (a position second in authority only to Sheikh Al Azhar), Ali Gomaa represents mainstream Islam’s — not “radical Islam’s” or “Islamism’s” — position concerning the “other,” in this case, Christians. Regardless, many in the West hail him as a “moderate” — such as this U.S. News article titled “Finding the Voices of Moderate Islam“; Lawrence Wright describes him as “a highly promoted champion of moderate Islam”:
He is the kind of cleric the West longs for, because of his assurances that there is no conflict with democratic rule and no need for theocracy. Gomaa has also become an advocate for Muslim women, who he says should have equal standing with men.
How does one reconcile such sunny characterizations with reality? The fact is, whenever top Muslim authorities like Gomaa say something that can be made to conform to Western ideals, Westerners jump on it (while of course ignoring their more “extreme” positions). It is the same with Gomaa’s alma mater, Al Azhar, the “chief center of Islamic and Arabic learning in the world.”
MEMRI, for instance, recently published a report titled “The Sheikh of Al Azhar in an Exceptionally Tolerant Article: Christianity, Judaism Share Basic Tenets of Islam.” Of course, the day after this report appeared, this same sheikh — Islam’s most authoritative figure — insisted that the American ambassador wear a hijab when meeting him: just as Muslim “radicals” compel Christian girls to wear the hijab, “moderate” Al Azhar compels U.S. diplomats.
In short, yes, many religions “share basic tenets,” but they are secondary to the differences, which are more final and define the relationship. Or, to put it in Ali Gomaa’s paradigm: Fine, Christianity and Islam have commonalities — but, by the way: “Infidels are those who declare God is the Christ, son of Mary.”
The fact is, this Qur’anic verse is as much a cornerstone of Islam’s view of Christianity as the unity of God and Christ is a cornerstone of Christianity, articulated some 1700 years ago in the Nicene Creed. The issue is clear cut for all involved.
Accordingly, how can one fault Gomaa? As Grand Mufti, he is simply being true to Islam’s teachings. Indeed, his consistency is more commendable than the equivocations of Western ecumencalists who, by falling over themselves to assure Muslims that they all essentially believe in the same things, demonstrate, especially to Muslims, that they believe in nothing.
Incidentally, if Gomaa upholds the plain teachings of the Quran concerning who is an infidel, is it not fair to assume he also upholds the Quran’s teachings on how to confront them, as commanded in Quran 9: 29: “Fight … the People of the Book [Jews and Christians] until they pay the Jizya [tribute] with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” Of course, prudent Muslims, undoubtedly like Gomaa himself, know that now is not the time to talk openly about such things.
Either way, here is another reminder of how Qur’anic verses and terms that Western people brush aside as arcane or irrelevant have a tremendous impact on current events — such as Egypt’s Maspero massacre: For the same word Gomaa, the nation’s Grand Mufti, used to describe Christians is the same word Muslim soldiers used when they opened fire on and ran over Christian Copts; the same word twenty Muslim soldiers used as they tortured a protesting Christian; and the same word Muslims hurled at Christians during the funeral procession for their loved ones slain at Maspero: Infidel.

Update: Bauder Elementary School Saudi Flag raising problem

On 29 Aug 11, there was a post that was on the GreeleyReport.com that was titled, “What’s that Flag?” We posted that here on our site as well…being a little disturbed about the connotations of how the radical Islamic Muslims deem their religion taking over America, per the Muslim Brotherhood’s Memorandum (http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/20.pdf) as well as a twofold violation of Public Law 94-344 Sec 3, (c), the federal US flag Laws which reads…

No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America,…No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the United States at any place within the United States or any territory or possession thereof:…”

So, being a disabled veteran, and taking the US flag laws to heart, I had to go and investigate why did this happen…what was the motive, the reason for the double violation of the federal law. So I proceeded down to the school and caught up with the principal, Brian Carpenter.  I asked him about the flag situation, if he could give me the story behind why it was the way it was…what I was told was that it was done without the school staff knowing about it…it was essentially, Mr Carpenter felt, was a means to cause some problems. That anyone could have come in, took the American flag from the sun roof opening, and put it in the position seen in the photo, and then the Greeley report.com reader, seeing it, had concern, took the picture, which raised the ruckus that entailed afterward. Another theory could be that some kids, whether brought up under radical Islamic parents, or just jokesters, took the US flag down and posted it the way it is portrayed in the picture.  The flag is currently hung back in its proper position, which is in the middle of a sun roof opening approx.  7– 10 feet off the floor. Around the opening there is a national flag from every country that pertains to where a child that is presently attending and/or has previously attended, has come from. Mr. Carpenter, upon finding the flag problem, attempting to quell any problems that would arise, fixed it as soon as he could; however, the seemingly political, as well as federal law violation match has already been lit.

From my point of view,  if it was truly a political statement from a student or a staff member or a parent of radical Islamic background to spread fear or intimidation; an Islamic jihadi or Crescent moon and star flag would have been raised next to the US flag.   We cannot condemn a man, nor his staff without proper evidence that they are guilty, and there is no evidence that the principal had any doings with this fiasco, Mr. Carpenter is doing all he can to keep it from happening again and is sorry for what has happened, and the connotations that have come from it.
