CALIFORNIA: CAIR demands GOP repudiate Gubernatorial Candidate’s Anti-Sharia Facebook Posting

Republican gubernatorial candidate and Assembly Member, Tim Donnelly, posted a Facebook comment accusing fellow candidate Neel Kashkari of making “the United States submit to the Islamic Sharia banking code in 2008 when he ran TARP.” The Facebook post included a link to a column by Islam expert Frank Gaffney.

In a statement, Muslim Brotherhood front group and pro-sharia organization CAIR-CA said:

“It is a shame that an elected official uses xenophobic and anti-Muslim rhetoric to discredit a member of his own party. Mr. Donnelly not only demonized his opponent, but also alienated the entire Muslim electorate. We urge responsible leaders of the Republican Party to repudiate Mr. Donnelly’s smear campaign and to marginalize any member of their party who uses such divisive and hateful discourse.”

GOP gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly launched a blistering attack accusing Republican rival Neel Kashkari of associating with fundamentalist Islamic law.

“BREAKING: Neel Kashkari supported the United States submitting to the Islamic, Shariah banking code in 2008 when he ran” the taxpayer-funded federal bank bailout, a Donnelly campaign associate wrote on the candidate’s Facebook page Monday. “Shariah is ‘the seditious religious-political-legal code authoritative Islam seeks to impose worldwide under a global theocracy.’ This revelation is spreading fast, as people … refer to Mr. Kashkari’s support of Shariah an ‘October Surprise.’”

Sharia law is an Islam-based code that governs personal and business behavior. Many global business interests deal with its banking laws, which forbid the charging of interest. But its criminal code is controversial, prompting protests on Monday by celebrities and others at the Beverly Hills Hotel over its owner, the sultan of Brunei’s, imposition of the law and its treatment of gay people and others in Brunei.

As the head of the bank bailout under President George W. Bush, Kashkari in 2008 delivered welcoming remarks at a conference about “Islamic Finance 101.” An article pointing to the event as evidence of the government “submitting” to Islamic law and written by an author who draws ire from many mainstream Republicans is posted as proof of Kashkari’s connection with Sharia law on Donnelly’s Facebook page.

Donnelly stood by his remarks late Monday.  “Given the recent stories and protests about the outrage of the discriminatory nature of Sharia law, we’re horrified that Kashkari would support Sharia anything,” he said.

The death toll of the shooting rampage in Santa Monica rose to six Sunday after one of the victims was taken off of life support. LOS ANGELES — Police found bomb-making materials seven years ago in the home of the gunman who killed five people last week in Santa Monica, a school board official said on Tuesday.

Police discovered the materials after John Zawahri threatened fellow high school students in 2006, Oscar de la Torre, a member of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified school board, told The Associated Press.

Did school and law enforcement officials treat Zawahri with kid gloves then because he was Muslim? Did that lead to ignoring potential issues, be it family violence or mental health, that may have prevented last week’s shootings?

The board was briefed by school administrators after police found Zawahri was learning to make explosives by downloading instructions from YouTube, de la Torre said.

Sounds familiar.

It was some type of devices or materials that would be able to make explosives, and the word `pipe bombs’ was what was referred to,” he said. “If it was guns and stuff like that it would have been more serious, but because it was explosives, it wasn’t deemed `Oh my God,’ just that this guy had a fascination.”

Zawahri wasn’t expelled, de la Torre said, but he never finished classes at Olympic High, a continuation school for students who have academic or disciplinary issues.

Zawahri, 23, shot his father, Samir Zawahri, and his 25-year-old brother, Christopher Zawahri, on Friday, leaving their home in flames before shooting at strangers in cars and at Santa Monica College.

De la Torre, who was a neighbor of Zawahri, said the gunman’s father told him he was having problems with his son eight months ago.

“They didn’t talk to a lot of people, they were very reserved,” de la Torre said. “One time he did tell me he had problems with his younger son, knowing I work with youth. He never went into detail about anything.”

Investigators were trying to determine whether problems in the Zawahri family played a role in the killings.

Zawahri’s mother, Randa Abdou, said in court filings in 1998 that her husband threatened her and became abusive five years into their marriage when she moved from Lebanon to join him in the U.S. Abdou has not spoken to the media.

Police say John Zawahri had contact with officers in 2006 but wouldn’t divulge details because he was a juvenile.

In 1993, Zawahri’s mother contacted the school terrified; not knowing where to go at the time. She told the school that “her husband had pulled a knife on her and her boys,” Parise said. The school contacted a local battered women’s shelter and Abdou went there.

When Zawahri was 9, his now-separated mother sought a restraining order. He once came to the apartment and told her that he was going to take the children to Canada, she said.

“The defendant said that he would do anything to make my life miserable and that he could kill me and no restraining order can stop him,” she said in court papers.

Sounds like something a devout Muslim who lived according to the sharia might say.

We bookmarked this story the other day, Driver Crashes Into San Jose Wal-Mart And Attacks Customers, but oddly there was no information on the suspect although it’s a known sudden jihad tactic. Today information was released and his name is Haamid Zaid. Video h/t via GroundZeroMosque

Kudos to the shoppers who took him down. Expect to do it many more times in the coming years as the jihad ramps up on American soil.

California’s first Muslim Superior Court Judge founded chapter of Muslim Brotherhood-linked Muslim Students Association

The Muslim Students Association was established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood. In “An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Brotherhood in North America,” by Mohamed Akram, May 19, 1991, the MSA is listed as one of the Brotherhood’s allied organizations. And the memorandum explains that the Brotherhood’s agenda in the U.S. is subversive: the Muslim Brothers “must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

“Brown Appoints California’s First Muslim Superior Court Judge,” by Sunita Sohrabji for IndiaWest, June 8 (thanks to Creeping Sharia):

Halim Dhanidina, who spent 14 years as a Los Angeles County deputy district attorney, was appointed to a California Superior Court judgeship May 18 by Governor Jerry Brown.

Dhanidina, a founding member of the Association of South Asian Prosecutors, will be the first Muslim American on a California bench, said Brown, announcing the appointments of 17 judges. Dhanidina will take up his new role June 20, although he has not yet been assigned to a court….

The Los Angeles-based Muslim Public Affairs Council said it had advocated for Dhanidina’s appointment for more than a year. “Dhanidina’s appointment is an important step in ensuring that California’s leaders accurately reflect the communities present in our great state,” said Aziza Hasan, MPAC’s Southern California Government Relations director, in a press statement.

Dhanidina earned his law degree at UCLA, where he served as the co-chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Law Students Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Pomona College, where he founded the first Muslim Students’ Association, and currently sits on the Board of Governors of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association Los Angeles.

Suspicious Backpack: Backpack Found With Grenades, Black Powder Under Bridge

The FBI was brought in Monday to help investigate the discovery of a cache of explosives in a backpack under a bridge near the border of Anaheim and Placentia.

The backpack contained six grenades, blasting caps and fuse igniters and blasting powder, according to authorities.

According to Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino, the backpack was spotted under a bridge off Lakeview Avenue near Orangethorpe Avenue Monday morning.

Islam fastest growing religion in San Diego, says Islamist

Be wary of statistics provided by an Islamist and parroted by media who do no fact checking. This same group has been putting out stories like this about the growth of Islam in America, the number of mosques in America and seems to be picking cities across the U.S. to post their unverified numbers. We also know terror-linked CAIR lies about the number of Muslims in America.

That said, we do know that San Diego has a growing problem with Muslim immigrants and is already submitting to Islamic sharia law [San Diego YMCA enforces sharia]. Islam was the fastest growing religious group in San Diego County between 2000 and 2010, according to the recently released 2010 U.S. Religion Census.

During the decade, the county’s Muslim population grew by 179 percent from 7,878 adherents to 21,994, according to estimates from the survey of the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies. Islam is now the seventh-largest religion in the county, the survey found.

Only one other group grew more here, in overall numbers. The county’s Mormon community grew by 25,227 followers, an increase of 55 percent, making it the third-largest church in the county.

About one quarter of the county’s population is Catholic, making it the most popular religion despite the loss of 28,083 followers or 3.4 percent of its fellowship during the decade. The county had 801,850 Catholics in 2010, ahead of a religious group reported by the survey for the first time this year, a grouping of 148,930 nondenominational Christians which ranked second.

The growth of Islam here is unique among California’s largest counties, according to the report. Both as a percentage and overall number, San Diego County’s Muslim population increase was nearly double that of any of the state’s 10 largest counties, according to the survey.

Islamic Center of San Diego Imam AbdelJalil Mezgouri attributed the growth of the county’s Muslim population to immigration, especially among Somali, Iraqi, Afghan and Bosnian refugees, and to an increase in births and Muslim conversions. He said the growth, which mirrors a national trend, has brought new challenges to the county’s Muslim community, but has also brought more understanding of Islam to the county as a whole.

“Of course, as we say, there is no gain without pain,” Mezgouri said. “The culture is becoming very, very diverse and also some of them have the challenge of adapting with the new place and the language, especially.”

Cabdriver Mohammed Abdi came to the U.S. from Kenya in 2005, following his brothers and other relatives who came earlier seeking economic opportunities. He said becoming an American Muslim was a challenge at first, as he struggled to attend Friday prayers regularly. To avoid missing out three weeks in a row, which is shunned by Islam, he would sneak out of work to attend mosque. He said being in America has ultimately strengthened his faith in Islam.

“When I came to America is when I really started to practice Islam strongly,” Abdi said. “I saw a lot of Christians around me and I worried I would lose my faith.

Christianophobe.

University of Kentucky Islamic Studies professor Ihsan Bagby, who helped produce the report’s Muslim estimates, said the growth nationally is also attributed to immigration and, to a lesser extent, conversion.

Who is Bagby?

A black convert to Islam, Ihsan Bagby is an associate professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Kentucky. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he attended Oberlin College for his undergraduate degree and then earned his Master’s and PhD (the latter in 1986, in the field of Near Eastern Studies) from the University of Michigan.

In a WorldNetDaily report detailing how certain Muslim group leaders are hoping that “the U.S. Constitution will one day be replaced by Koranic law,” Bagby, an Islamic fundamentalist, is quoted as saying, “Ultimately we [Muslims] can never be full citizens of this country [the U.S.], because there is no way we can be fully committed to the institutions and ideologies of this country.”

In addition to his professorial duties and research ventures, Bagby is the Imam of Jamaa’ah al-Taqwa, a mosque in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is also the General Secretary of the Muslim Alliance of North America; a Board member of the Council on American-Islamic Relations; an Advisory Board member of the Islamic Society of North America; and is affiliated with Muslims in American Public Square.

That makes Bagby a board member of not one, but two unindicted co-conspirators to the largest terror financing conviction in U.S. history.

Al Qaeda and forest fires

While there is no evidence that the fire currently raging in Colorado was an act of terrorism, or even man-made at all, it is certainly worth reviewing and mentioning that Al Qaeda has repeatedly discussed such action in its literature. Moreover, in Israel, Jihadists have in fact used forest fires as terrorist weapons.

Recently, Al Qaeda’s online magazine, “Inspire,” instructed Al Qaeda followers to set forest fires in the US:

An unclassified report by the Department of Homeland Security indicates Al Qaeda has issued instructions in its terror magazine “Inspire” on how to set wildfires in the United States.

It suggests that using wildfires as a tactic because of its potential for casualties, economic damage, and wide media coverage; and the accompanying psychological effects of fear and terror.

In addition recent posts to English-language violent Islamic extremist Web forums have also encouraged individuals in the United States to start wildfires and given specific instructions on how to do so.

According to the DHS the equipment and materials needed to use fire as a weapon are “common and easily obtainable, making pre-operational activities difficult to detect.”

Montana and California are specifically mentioned as ideal targets for wildfires.

[Editor’s note: This is what I have blogged on a while ago…it doesn’t mean the fires were started by terrorists, but it does show that there is a great possibility for it to happen, like when the terrorist was arrested in 2003 for plotting to start a string of forest fires in California. With the Western United States under a severe drought, and, for instance, the High Park fire being believed to have started from when lightning struck a tree that smoldered for a few days with the dryness and heat we have had the last few months…that is the reported cause for this fire, but, as the DHS stated, actual terrorist, criminal activities that have resulted in wild fires are hard to detect. Employee From Pakistan Could Proceed With Religion And National Origin Harassment Claims Rehmani v. Superior Court, 204 Cal. App. 4th 945 (2012)
Mustafa Rehmani, a Muslim born in Pakistan, worked as a system test engineer for Ericsson Inc. before his employment was terminated in 2009. Among other things, Rehmani alleged that three of his coworkers (Amit Patel, Aneel Choppa and Ashit Ghevaria) and Ericsson harassed him based on his Pakistani nationality and his Muslim faith.

The trial court granted defendants’ motion for summary adjudication of those claims on the ground that the undisputed facts demonstrated that Rehmani was not subjected to unwelcome harassment based on religion and/or national origin. The Court of Appeal granted Rehmani’s petition for a writ of mandate and directed the trial court to vacate its order granting summary adjudication to defendants after reviewing the evidence. The Court noted that Rehmani had “offered evidence of a larger picture than just a few interpersonal squabbles. His declaration, together with testimony from coworkers, suggests rudeness, taunting, and intimidation from Indian engineers toward non-Indian colleagues.”

The Court further observed, “considering the current international climate of tension between Muslims and non-Muslims and that factor’s interaction with relations between various countries (including Pakistan and India), we cannot regard the [claim of harassment based on religion] as independent of the evidence related to national origin.”

Pakistan was India. It is the epicenter of Islamic jihad and was created to be an Islamic state and they’ve been attacking India ever since.
