Adopting Pro-Sharia Textbooks in U.S. Schools

Posted on January 16, 2012 by creeping

via Alyssa A. Lappen — Adopting Pro-Sharia Textbooks

One of the most important strengths of a nation is its education. When U.S. school textbooks fail to deal honestly with Islam but instead present apologetics and propaganda, children are Islamists’ pawns.

When states should step in.

In August 2011, a Marietta, Ga. 7th grade teacher gave a three-page homework lesson from InspirEd Educators Inc. of Roswell, Ga. to students to help them discuss pros and cons of school uniforms. “Women in the West do not have the protection of the Sharia as we do,” declared a letter from a Saudi wife named Ahlima. “If our marriage has problems, my husband can take another wife rather than divorce me, and I would still be cared for.” She’s glad that Saudi women “have the Sharia.” When parents objected to the assignment’s pro-Islam stance, the school district changed the curriculum.

In 2010, Act for America compiled research from former assistant education secretary Diane Ravitch, American Textbook Council and Textbook League on how 38 public school texts handled Islam; last month, Christian Action Network launched a national campaign warning of bias.

While school assignments sugarcoat sharia, the doctrine requires “defense” of community and permits “payback” against perceived enemies like U.S. servicemen and all Israelis, according to influential Muslim Brotherhood jurist Yusuf Qaradawi. Thus a naturalized Kosovo man arrested in Florida Jan. 9 planned an attack to “die in the Islamic way.” The Council on Islamic American Relations (CAIR) has long warned members not to aid the FBI and Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) agents seek more “hate crime” studies — but eliminations of solid counter terror strategies.

Some 22 states and U.S. territories currently maintain central textbook “adoption” standards to either recommend or require specific textbooks for public schools. Textbook adoption originated during Reconstruction to ensure that the Civil War narrative included Confederate views in southern states. In the public free-for-all that ultimately developed, minorities apparently appropriated undue influence. Thus, texts often downplay European history but include material unrelated to the U.S. Some books, for example, tout Mali’s medieval Islamic ruler Mansa Musa and his 1324 trip (with thousands of slaves) to Mecca. But they provide no connection to U.S. history — as none exists.

In the last two decades, sanitized Islamic history and dogma crept into broad use in U.S. public school books thanks largely to Shabbir Mansuri; to advantage Muslims, he maximized the minority role in textbook adoption (and falsely claimed to be a USC-educated chemical engineer). In 1990, he founded the Fountain Valley, Ca. Council on Islamic Education to promote Islam in textbooks and curricula, which he calls a “bloodless” revolution inside American junior high and high school classes. Mansuri derived the idea in 1988, after seeing a textbook disparage physical aspects of Muslim prayer, he says.

Independent review agencies affirm that CIE—deceptively renamed in 2006 as Institute on Religion and Civic Values (IRCV)—powerfully influences U.S. textbooks via state standards it helped to write.

            Susan Douglass

For advancing “change” in school standards and curricula, CIE can largely thank Muslim convert Susan Douglass, who for 10 years wrote CIE lesson plans, advisories, guidelines and pamphlets to soft peddle Islam in public schools. Central is the Teacher’s Guide to Religion in the Public Schools that this author exposed shortly after its 2003 publication, purportedly as an interfaith “First Amendment” plan.

CIE bedfellows include North American Muslim Brotherhood affiliates. CIE shares MB goals, as its former chief Mohammed Akram outlined in a strategic May 1991 MB “Explanatory Memorandum.” Sound Vision Foundation pushes “dawa” (proselytizing) in public schools from MB offices in Bridgewater, Ill., for example. CIE joined efforts with Arab World and Islamic Resources Group (AWIRG), a.k.a. Dar al Islam or land of Islam—a remote N.M. non-profit founded in 1979 by the late Saudi King Khaled ibn Aziz. AWIRG had CIE help forming its speakers bureau and until a 2005 press inquiry, listed CIE as its “secondary schools” associate. CIE has old ties, too, to the extremist Islamic Networks Group, and collaborated extensively” with Ali al-Mazrui, an ex-trustee of an MB organization founded by incarcerated, Eritrean MB terrorist financier Abdurahman Alamoudi.

While probably unaware of their carefully staged genesis, parents for years have vocally opposed such Islamic instructions in public schools and texts as:

  • In 2008, a Seminole County, Fl. school let Muslim women co-opt a “family dynamics‘” talk.
  • In Sept. 2010, a Wellesley, Ma. school “field trip” to a Saudi-funded Roxbury mosque taught kids how to pray like Muslims.
  • In early 2010, Minnesota’s ACLU sued St. Paul’s public k-8 Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy for breaching the ban against government religious advocacy.
  • Massachusetts schools adopted a Notebook by Abiquiu, N.M.’s Saudi-funded AWIRG. Pushed by Harvard’s Middle Eastern Studies Center, it claims Muslim explorers discovered the New World and Native Americans had Muslim names. (In 2005, the center had received $20 million from Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talaal, who later boasted he could control global TV news.)

In Sept. 2010, the Texas Board of Education endured heavy criticism after issuing a textbook resolution asking publishers to fix the “pro-Islamic/anti-Christian half-truths, selective disinformation, and false stereotypes” that riddled textbooks. The board included four pages of notes to document “pejoratives” targeting Christians and “superlatives,” Muslims—e.g. brutal conquests of Christian lands were called “migrations” of “empire builders.” Books listed Crusaders’ massacres, but not the Muslim Tamerlane’s 1389 Delhi murder of 100,000 prisoners or his 1401 Baghdad massacre of 90,000 Muslims.

Whether named CIE or IRCV, Islamic forces spent decades stealthily cultivating influence over our nation’s public schools and curricula through “minority” channels afforded by “textbook adoption.” Other “adoption state” authorities should perhaps now add teeth to their own Texas-like counter-efforts.

U.S., E.U. Spearhead Islamic Bid To Criminalize Free Speech

Posted on January 9, 2012 by creeping

via Stonegate Institute, U.S., E.U. Spearhead Islamic Bid To Criminalize Free Speech:

The European Union has offered to host the next meeting of the so-called Istanbul Process, an aggressive effort by Muslim countries to make it an international crime to criticize Islam.

The announcement comes less than one month after the United States hosted its own Istanbul Process conference in Washington, DC.

The Istanbul Process – its explicit aim is to enshrine in international law a global ban on all critical scrutiny of Islam and/or Islamic Sharia law – is being spearheaded by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), a bloc of 57 Muslim countries.

Based in Saudi Arabia, the OIC has long pressed the European Union and the United States to impose limits on free speech and expression about Islam.

But the OIC has now redoubled its efforts and is engaged in a determined diplomatic offensive to persuade Western democracies to implement United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) Resolution 16/18, which calls on all countries to combat “intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatization of … religion and belief.” (Analysis of the OIC’s war on free speech can be found here and here.)

Resolution 16/18, which was adopted at HRC headquarters in Geneva in March 2011, is widely viewed as a significant step forward in OIC efforts to advance the international legal concept of defaming Islam.

However, the HRC resolution – as well as the OIC-sponsored Resolution 66/167, which was quietly approved by the 193-member UN General Assembly on December 19, 2011 – remains ineffectual as long as it lacks strong support in the West.

The OIC therefore scored a diplomatic coup when the Obama Administration agreed to host a three-day Istanbul Process conference in Washington, DC on December 12-14, 2011. In doing so, the United States gave the OIC the political legitimacy it has been seeking to globalize its initiative to ban criticism of Islam.

Following the Obama Administration’s lead, the European Union now wants to get in on the action by hosting the next Istanbul Process summit, tentatively scheduled for July 2012.

Up until now, the European Union has kept the OIC initiative at arms-length. But Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary-General of the OIC, says the EU’s offer to host the meeting represents a “qualitative shift in action against the phenomenon of Islamophobia,” according to the International Islamic News Agency (IINA), the OIC’s official news/propaganda organ.

Contact Your Elected Officials and tell them to defend your Constitution and free speech, and demand those running for office pledge to defend it as well – even when it means challenging Muslims and Islam.

Terrorist supporters at CAIR are cheering the Army’s submission to Islam

Posted: December 27, 2011 | Author: barenakedislam |

But the American public is angry that the Obama Regime forced the Army to cave to Muslim pressure group CAIR’s demands that Muslim students be allowed to wear their headbags when in JROTC uniform, which essentially spits on the concept of ‘uniform.’

Women soldiers in Afghanistan already are forced to wear headbags when they come in contact with Muslim men, putting them in unnecessary danger

Jed Babbin, a former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense, noted that the point of a uniform is uniformity. “Look at the word: ‘uni’-’form’ — everybody wears the same thing,” Babbin said. “The military is by its own nature diverse and creates a culture in which everyone, regardless of their race or creed, is blended into one force for a common purpose. This [uniform exemption] divides it, balkanizes it on religious grounds… the point of JROTC is to get you ready for ROTC in college which is preparing you to go on active duty. So if you are going to allow it for ROTC? Why don’t you allow it on active duty?” (Give them time, that’s CAIR’s next move. But the real question should be why are we allowing Muslims into our military in the first place?)

Florida judge dismisses case in which he permitted Islamic law but says sharia court rulings binding

Posted on December 19, 2011 by creeping

He dismissed the case but his assertion on sharia tribunals is troubling. via Judge dismisses case he planned to use Islamic law in – Tampa Bay Times.

TAMPA — The Hillsborough judge who touched off controversy by saying he would use Islamic law to help decide a lawsuit against a mosque cited a different authority as he ordered the case dismissed.

The U.S. Constitution.

Circuit Judge Richard Nielsen ruled last week that the Constitution barred the court from getting involved in a dispute between the mosque — the Islamic Education Center of Tampa — and several ousted trustees.

The order is something of an about-face for Nielsen, whose earlier ruling that he would use “ecclesiastical Islamic law” to decide an issue in the case triggered national publicity and criticism from some commentators.

In a brief two-page order, Nielsen cited an earlier, precedent-setting ruling by another court in a different case that found “the trial court could not intervene in an internal church governance dispute.”

Quoting that decision, Nielsen wrote that the Constitution “permits hierarchical religious organizations to establish their own rules and regulations for internal discipline and governance, and to create tribunals for adjudicating disputes over these matters.”

To be clear, the judge quoted another judge’s interpretation decision not the Constitution.

Nielsen concluded, “Once such matters are decided by an ecclesiastical tribunal, the civil courts are to accept the decision as binding on them.”

An ecclesiastical tribunal being a sharia tribunal or sharia court. Nielsen concludes then, that civil courts are to accept sharia court rulings as binding.

Attorney Lee Segal, representing the four ousted trustees, has 30 days to file an appeal. He said Monday that he was unsure if such an appeal would be filed.

“My clients are still weighing their options at this point,” Segal said. “We don’t know if there is anything we can do.”

Nielsen made no attempt in his ruling to reconcile his earlier decision to use Islamic law with the new order dismissing the case. And judges do not comment on pending litigation.

“I just think the judge punted, which he is entitled to do,” Segal said.

Nielsen’s order may simply leave both sides to settle the dispute among themselves, attorneys say.

“Maybe they’ll do the proper Muslim thing and resolve their differences,” Segal said.

TEXAS: Muslims foaming at the mouth over ‘Let’s Play Cowboys and Iranians’ poster

Posted: November 6, 2011 | Author: barenakedislam

EAT AT NONMACHER’S BAR-B-QUE in Katy, Texas: Best pork ribs in town and guaranteed no pesky Muslims inside to spoil your meal. Gotta love those Texas good ol’ boys!

ABC NEWS  When Ayman Wafai, 32, heard about a poster of an Iranian being lynched at a restaurant in Katy, Texas, he couldn’t believe it. So he went to the restaurant in question, Nonmacher’s Bar-B-Que, to see for himself.

What he had heard was true. A poster dating back to 1979 was hanging on a wall. It depicted an Iranian man being lynched and had a quote underneath that said, “Let’s Play Cowboys and IRANIANS!”

Wafai, who is of Syrian descent, talked to the owner, John Nonmacher, whom he described as “a very nice gentleman.” “I just explained to him that this might be considered a bad thing to have displayed, could be construed as bigoted,” Wafai said.

                          Nonmacher

But Nonmacher said the picture is merely a historical relic. He told ABC News he received the picture in 1979 during the Iranian hostage crisis, when a group of Islamist students and militants took over the American embassy in Tehran, Iran, in support of the Iranian revolution. The poster had been up for 30 years.

Nomancher seemed befuddled by the recent onslaught of attention. “Nobody’s ever found it offensive before,” he told the ABC station KTRK.

But for Husein Hadi, a local attorney who is Iranian-American, times have changed. “The times for this sign are over and this is something that happened in the past,” Hadi said.  Hadi, along with Wafai and other Texans, plans to protest on Saturday.

A group on Facebook – “OMGWTHBBQ!? – A Peaceful Protest Against Racism” – is calling on people to protest Nonmacher as they “unite as Texans and let the owners of Nonmacher’s BBQ know that them lynchin’ days are over!”

Too bad IRAN’S lynchin’ days aren’t over, where they hang gays for being gay.

Too bad IRAN’S lynchin’ days aren’t over, where they hang gays for being gay.

Wafai said that the protests are not being conducted out of ill will. “Any other day, I would have enjoyed my time there,” he said. “It’s just that if it continues to stay on the wall, more people will think it’s OK to see a lynching.”

Nonmacher said he’s not forcing anyone to come to the restaurant. “It’s my choice to have it up,” he said. “It’s your choice to go where you want to go. But I’m not going to take it down.”

Somali Muslims submit another Tyson plant to sharia

Posted on October 31, 2011 by creeping

This time in Joplin, Missouri. via Somali workers back on job at Tyson plant » The Joplin Globe

NOEL, Mo. — A group of about 130 Somali workers were back on the job Tuesday at the Tyson Foods chicken plant in Noel after discussions ironed out what company management says was a misunderstanding likely created by a language barrier.

The workers had left the plant Friday in what was said to be a perceived dispute with plant managers regarding prayer time for the workers, who are Muslims.

Abdinasir Ahmed, one of the workers, said the walkout took place after a group of 23 Muslim workers were told they would not be allowed time to pray. He said a plant official also was disrespectful of their religion, and that other workers joined the walkout when they heard what had happened.

In a statement released Tuesday, Tyson spokesman Worth Sparkman said the company official said she was not disrespectful. “The walkout was the result of an unfortunate misunderstanding we believe was rooted in language differences.”

Ahmed said he has worked at the plant for three years, and has been allowed prayer time until a new management team recently took over. Another 24-year-old worker, Bazi Nur, also said that the environment at the plant had changed when the new management team arrived.

In another statement this week, Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson said: “Our Noel management team includes a few new people who joined the operation a couple of months ago. However, the plant’s efforts to provide religious accommodation have not changed.”

In a telephone interview, Mickelson said none of the Muslim workers who walked out Friday were fired, and that Tyson brought a Somali interpreter from another plant to address any language barrier that may arise between management and the workers.

“We are a company that strives to be faith friendly, and, as required by federal law, have already been providing religious accommodation to workers at the Noel plant,” he said. “However, in this case, a group of workers involved asked that they all be allowed to take a prayer break at the same time.”

Mickelson says that allowing 130 workers to pray at the same time would put an undue hardship on the company’s operation.

Ahmed and Nur dispute the contention that the Muslim employees requested simultaneous prayer time.

“We submitted a request that each worker get time to pray one at a time,” Nur said.

Ahmed said discussions between company officials and local workers lasted until 8 p.m. Monday. He said workers returned to the plant Tuesday under a temporary agreement that allows for individual prayer breaks.

Nur said the Muslim workers in Noel are not asking for special treatment, just the accommodation required by law.

“We’re not here asking for what is not our rights,” he said.

Islamists Establishing “Guilt” Through Lies [incl. As’ad AbuKhalil]

by Gadi Adelman
Family Security Matters
October 31, 2011
http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.10700/pub_detail.asp
Those that read my articles on a regular basis or are familiar with my work and my radio program know that I always deal with facts. Aside from checking my facts three or four times before putting them on paper, my articles always contain a multitude of links so that the reader can double check what facts I have stated.
The last few days I have read no less than 10 articles blasting Dr. Walid Phares. It is one thing to disagree with someone or their views; it’s something else when you blatantly lie, have no proof to back up what you are claiming and then you call it journalism.
What’s more, are those in the media that never bother to check something they have read and then they regurgitate it over and over without any basis whatsoever, write their own article using the original lies and still refer to it as “journalism”.
I could not possibly put his entire Bio here for lack of room, but it is impressive to say the least. Here are some facts for those that may not know who Dr. Walid Phares is.
Author of 12 books including a best seller, he has a degree in Political Science and another in Law from St Joseph University in Beirut and has a Masters in International Law from the Université de Lyons in France and a Ph.D. in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the University of Miami.
Professor Phares has been an adviser to the U.S. House of Representatives Caucus on Counter Terrorism since 2007 and has been the Co-Secretary General of the Trans-Atlantic Legislative Group on Counter Terrorism since 2008.
He has been teaching Global Strategies at the National Defense University in Washington DC since 2006 and he has been a Professor of Middle East Studies, Ethnic and Religious Conflict at the Department of Political Science at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) from 1993 to 2006. Professor Phares has also been a senior lecturer on the War on Terror and Global Conflicts at the LLS Program of FAU and the IRP Program at the University of Miami. Previously he taught at Florida International University and at Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
He testifies and conducts briefings at the U.S. Congress, the European Parliament and Commission, and briefed UN Security Council missions, as well as to U.S. State Department and other foreign ministries worldwide as well as to officials on Counter Terrorism in Europe and the United States. Dr. Phares was an advisory board member of the Task Force on Future Terrorism of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (2005-2007) and a member of the NSC advisory task force on Nuclear Terrorism (2006-2007).
After relocating to the United States in 1990, he taught at various universities and served with the media and as an expert at U.S. Immigration Courts since 1994.
Anyone in the counter-terror field knows of Dr. Phares his books, articles and lectures. But now that Mitt Romney named him as a member of his foreign policy team, his name and background have been slandered with lies and allegations.
Throughout the main stream media and left wing blogs he is now farmed as “linked to factions that perpetrated war crimes.” One article in the Daily Beast referred to him as a longtime “lightning rod for charges of Islamophobia and outright aggression toward Muslims”.
Another article The New Republic quotes Martha Crenshaw,
But Stanford terrorism expert Martha Crenshaw told me that the name did not ring a bell. “He’s not in the mainstream as an academic,” she said. “I’m not familiar with his work on terrorism.”
Crenshaw has never heard of Dr. Walid Phares? Since she is a so-called “expert” on terrorism it does not say much for her knowledge if she never heard of this man. Also, as a side note, I have spoken with a former student of hers who dropped her class because she was “always politically correct.” Political correctness and terrorism do not mix.
Interestingly, at the end of Crenshaw’s New Republic article they had to put in a correction,
*CORRECTION: This article originally identified Iowa Republican Steve King as having held congressional hearings on the dangers of Sharia law.
That would have been Rep. Peter King from New York. Such an error highlights Crenshaw’s knowledge and research on the subject.
The article that appears to have started it all (as well as more lies than any other) was published in Salon.com and was written by As’asd AbuKhalil. According to real fact-checker and journalist lawyer John Hajjar,
As’ad AbuKhalil is not a typical left wing, anti-American, pro-Jihadist, anti-Israel instructor who misinforms students in the classrooms in which he lectures at a California college. Far worse than that, he is the top unofficial US-based propagandist for Hezbollah and its terrorist acolytes.
Is it any wonder that a propagandist for Hezbollah would blast someone like Walid Phares? Abukhalil’s article is full of wrong dates and places, as well as blatant lies.
Rather than regurgitating others’ points, I ask that you read the article “As’ad Abukhalil: America’s Hezbollah Propagandist” by John Hajjar which explains with facts each of Abukhalil’s mistakes, misinformation and lies.
The bottom line is this; these people write about a war they know nothing about. They have no clue on its timeline or those involved. It was a changing war for 15 years with multiple protagonists and the actors often shifted.
The Lebanese Forces mentioned in these articles were not just a militia; they were a vast coalition of parties overseeing the defense forces of the Lebanese Christians. They were the local Government during the conflict when the central Government collapsed and were received by the international community and the Arab League. Two leaders from this coalition were elected Presidents of the Republic by the Lebanese Parliament.
Phares’ books and articles have spanned a decade; he has offered a thousand lectures and always promoted countering terrorism and promoting pluralist and federalist solutions, which started with his first book, Pluralism in Lebanon.
Phares’ intellectual experiences from his younger years in the Middle East were crucial for his career as a scholar and advisor in the U.S. to defend the country against the Jihadi terror threats.
He is targeted by these forces precisely because of his capacity as a strategic adviser, which is why as a U.S. citizen he was sought by members of Congress, the European Parliament and many think tanks for two decades. He is not an ordinary academic who repeats what others have written. Phares actually produces new and advanced ideas, hence the reaction of those who wants to mollify American readiness.
The real target of these journalists and attackers is not his time spent in Lebanon, which was never questioned because it was public knowledge and archived in the press. It is not because he is now advising a Presidential candidate. It is because of his books, which have constantly uncovered threats and have predicted events in the region long before they occur.
Each of the articles mentions that CAIR has asked Romney to drop Phares as an adviser. It quotes a letter that CAIR sent to the Romney campaign calling for his ouster. The letter refers to Phares as “an associate to war crimes” and a “conspiracy theorist,” citing ties to a violent anti-Muslim militia.
CAIR, the “unindicted co-conspirator” in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding case, doesn’t want a person such as Walid Phares advising a Presidential Candidate.
CAIR, whose founder Omar M. Ahmad, stated…

“Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Quran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”

CAIR, the arm of the Muslim Brotherhood here in America doesn’t want an expert on Jihad and terrorism anywhere near the White House. Go figure.

SUPPORT THE EDL: Poppy-burning Muslim scum plan new ‘Hell for Heroes’ protest for Remembrance Day, 11/11/11

Posted: November 1, 2011 | Author: barenakedislam

To our British cousins, please don’t let the police harass and arrest the patriotic citizens of the English Defence League who will be there to counter the vile Muslim thugs planning to desecrate and demean your Remembrance Day for British military heroes.

UK DAILY MAIL  The group which caused outrage by burning  poppies last Remembrance Sunday is   planning further disruption on November 11, with a twisted ‘Hell for Heroes’ campaign. The demo, which mocks the charity for injured soldiers Help for Heroes, is due to take place outside the Royal Albert Hall, the same location where  poppies were burned last year.

Emdadur Choudhury, who burned the poppy, was fined just £50.

The Muslims Against Crusades protesters, who have sought permission from police to hold the rally, aim to chant and disrupt the minute’s silence held in honour of the war dead. Firebrand cleric Anjem Choudary, who has links to the Muslims Against Crusades group, said: ‘It’s going to be called Hell for Heroes and it will be around the Royal Albert Hall.

‘It will involve a protest and not observing the minute’s silence. We had a significant amount of support from Muslims around the world last year.

‘It’s one thing to remember the dead from the First World War and subsequent wars but it’s quite another when they say we need to remember the dead from Afghanistan and Iraq.

‘It’s become a political football and if they are going to use Remembrance Day for that purpose it’s only right that we have a counter protest, which we say is for Muslims. ‘The Army is currently at war with Muslims in Muslim countries.’

Choudary also played down reports that MP Mike Freer had feared for his safety after a protest at a north London mosque where he was holding a surgery last Friday afternoon.

                      EDL COUNTER PROTEST

EDL COUNTER PROTEST

Up to a dozen protesters forced their way into the mosque where Mr Freer was meeting constituents, prompting officials to lock him in a private room for his own safety. Mr Freer, a member of Conservative Friends of Israel, said he was called a ‘Jewish homosexual pig’.

He said he only later realized the MAC website had made reference to MP Stephen Timms, who was stabbed in his surgery by a Muslim women. Choudary played down the protest saying: ‘It was peaceful and there were no arrests. ‘As far as I am aware, there is no suggestion anyone from MAC said anything anti-Semitic or homophobic.’

Appeals court rules Islamic SHARIA law is OK in FLORIDA civil case

Posted on October 26, 2011 by creeping

It’s here folks. It crept in and now it is here. Years of warnings ignored by the masses brainwashed by the CAIR-fed, Islamist-pandering media and leftists who aid and abet the jihad. It is here. What are you going to do about it? An update to this post via Use of Islamic law OK in civil case, judge rules | TBO.com.

A state appeals court has ruled that a Hillsborough County Circuit judge can consider Islamic law to decide a civil case between a mosque and its former trustees.

The decision by the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Lakeland to decline the appeal of the Islamic Education Center of Tampa sends the case back to Hillsborough County Circuit Judge Richard A. Nielsen. Nielsen’s decision in March to allow the case to proceed under “ecclesiastical Islamic law” drew national attention when the ruling was criticized by conservative bloggers.

The case has its roots in 2002, when the mosque ousted four of its founding members; those founding members later sued the mosque. One of the main issues of dispute was who would be responsible for how to spend $2.5 million Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise had paid the mosque for 3.4 acres needed to widen Veterans Expressway.

When he made his March ruling, Nielsen said courts have ruled “that ecclesiastical law controls certain relations between members of a religious organization, whether a church, synagogue, temple or mosque.”

The uproar over the ruling went overboard, said Lee Segal, a Clearwater attorney representing the ousted trustees. He said the ruling follows established legal precedent and does not mean Nielsen is allowing Islamic law to trump U.S. law.

“When the parties agree (before the trial that) they are bound to Islamic law, they can be bound to Islamic law,” Segal said. “As long as what you are agreeing to doesn’t violate the constitution of the United States, you can apply any type of law.”

Though the issue of Islamic law has garnered attention, the legal fight over the lawsuit is complicated, with much of it revolving around the arbitration process.

On Monday, Paul Thanasides, the attorney for the mosque, filed a new motion to dismiss the case because of lack of jurisdiction.

For those who suggest that sharia is ok because both parties are Muslim please note that one of the parties is not interested in abiding by sharia as we noted here – Florida judge orders Muslims to follow sharia law, against their will.

Americans were warned about Mogahed when Obama hired her in 2009 [Obama Appoints Radical Muslim Apologist To Faith-Based Committee], and well before. H/t Bella via El Cid at Big Peace: Report: Obama’s Muslim Advisers Block Middle Eastern Christians’ Access to the White House.

From a Middle East correspondent:

Beirut Arab news agency al Nashra reported on Saturday November 22, that [White House Muslim envoy] Dalia Mogahed has succeeded in canceling a meeting between the Maronite Patriarch of Lebanon and President Barack Obama. Writing in al Nashra, the reporter said “an unnamed US source told the news agency, that those who sought canceling a visit of (the spiritual head of the Maronite Church) Patriarch Beshara Rahi to the White House are Dalia Mujahid (Mogahed), the highest adviser on Arab and Islamic Affairs in the State Department, who is from Egyptian origins. And that,” according to al Nashra, heeding a request by the higher leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, who consider that US Administration must support the Islamist Sunni current facing the Iranian current in the region.”

The al Nashra report, circulating now widely in the Middle East, but also in the United States and across the Lebanese Christian Diaspora confirms what was already known about the impact the so-called “advisors on Arab and Islamic Affairs” in the White House on Middle East issues in general and on US policies regarding the Christians in the Middle East.

The anti-Middle East Christian lobbying in Washington, attributed to Muslim Brotherhood front groups and sympathizers is not limited to the Maronites, who form the bulk of the two million Lebanese Americans. According to research showing the links between Presidential adviser Dalia Mogahed and the Muslim Brotherhood, and to NGOs representing Middle East Christian groups in the US, blocking Middle East Christian meetings at the White House and the State Department have been associated with the work of the “advisors” and their allies in the Islamist camp in Washington such as CAIR and MPAC.

Observers believe that the campaign against Americans from Middle East Christian descent has also reached Terrorism experts and congressional advisers and NGO leaders whose field focuses on the Islamist and Jihadist movements. Indeed, in a report published this year, John Esposito, the chair of the Saudi-funded Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University (and an associate to Mogahed) endorses sharp attacks against experts and analysts, always charging “Islamophobia.”

Blocking the Maronite Patriarch from the White House is a move that is directed to all Middle East Christians in the United States and can have significant effects in the region and even on US politics. Brooklyn Bishop for the Maronites in the US, who are part of America’s Catholic Church criticized President Obama for not meeting the Patriarch during his visit. Bishop Mansour wrote:

Patriarch Rai’s warning about the future of Christians in Syria is not taboo. Christians are in a state of peril in the same way that Christians of Iraq were a few years ago when two-thirds of them migrated out… A new day is dawning in the Middle East. The Arab Spring is happening with little vision for the summer that will ensue.

However, for advisors in the Administration to rebuke the spiritual head of a main Middle East Christian community, and engage in a witch hunt against Middle East Christians, including US citizens, for the benefit of the Muslim Brotherhood is a serious matter the American public should not tolerate.

The Maronites are Middle Eastern Christians who count about a million people inside Lebanon with more than 10 millions in the Diaspora. There are about one and a half million Americans who are Maronites and five millions in Brazil. There are Maronite members of the US Congress such as Congressman Charles Boustany of Louisiana or former Congressman Ray Lahoud, current secretary of transportation. Maronites are among the 25 millions of Christians in the Middle East, including the 15 million Copts in Egypt, the one million Assyrians and Chaldeans in Iraq, another million Syriacs and Orthodox in Syria as well as Iranian Christians and African Christians in Sudan. Americans who are from Middle East Christian ancestry are about 86% of all Americans from Arab or Middle East Christians and count two times the size of American Muslims.
